In the fall of 2015, I was the Poetry Editor for Humboldt State University's literary journal, Toyon. I, along with my co-editor, reviewed the top poetry submissions and selected the final pieces to become published. Along with selecting the final poetry contributors, we selected the recipient for the Jodi Stutz Award, for best work of literary poetry.

Here is a poem I wrote for one of my creative writing courses at Humboldt State University. This shows my creative skill, my attention to form, an eye for detail, and ability to incorporate intertextual references. Also, it portrays my ability to create a whole concept within a few lines, something which is valuable and necessary for producing a quality comic book.

The first file is the rubric and my grade for the comic remix I had created for my Comic and Graphic Novel Lit. Analysis course taken in the spring of 2016. The second attached file is the actual comic I made. It's my first attempt at producing a comic book and definetely wont be my last. The beginning opens with 1-2 pages of relfection about the project and my experience putting it together, how I made it work, then the story itself begins. I learned a lot during the creation of this remix, which I can apply to future projects I work on. |
